okay, tonight's blog post will try to detail our 4th day in penang, malaysia (even though it's been an entire month since the trip). i've been really busy lately here in seoul. i'll update you friends on what i've been doing in later posts!
day three: penang, malaysia.
we woke up in our (fancy) hostel in georgetown to pouring rain. because of this, we stayed in bed for longer than anticipated.
after we got our lazy, depressed butts out of bed, we headed to batu ferringi for round two.
we ate some DELICIOUS beach food and drank THE COLDEST tigers we had the entire trip.
i do believe my notebook can directly quote jeff teacher after his first sip of his beer.
this was the day we tried durian for the second time. i was definitely hesitant to doing so after jeff teacher suggested we give it a second chance, but i'm glad we both ate it again. this time, it wasn't nearly as similar to a stinky-foot-onion combination.
this durian was fresh, unlike that other durian we got off the street, and we got the chance to mow on some with some locals.
this one duder kept going back for more, despite his face which expressed what looked like a strong dislike for the fruit. he actually told us that "durian is like cigarettes. you don't like the taste, but you are addicted, so you eat it every day."
[guy's apparent love/hate relationship with durian allowed me to snap my favorite photo of the trip!]
casey and jeff got some painful massages while i sat on the beach and enjoyed another cold brew.
