Finally, with the colder air's (anticipated) arrival, I must part ways with one of my favorite parts about summer in Korea — the cicadas. On my runs in Olympic Park, I wouldn't bring a source of music because the sounds of the cicadas and crickets were so calming to me. The following video doesn't do it any justice, but this is what I like to call my "magical place" here in my neighborhood.
Before moving to Asia, I most likely would have turned up my nose and said, "Ew!" to this trail, considering it's not as elegant or orderly as walking trails back home, but I really grew to love the quiet chaos of this place. Along with the loud waves of the cicadas' call, I enjoyed walking by the ajjumas selling vegetables in their huts.
But with the arrival of fall, we can enjoy the outdoors without sweating our faces off. Because of this, I am planning another trip to Seoraksan! Again, I've made posters to encourage those interested at KPI to come along. So far, it looks like about 20 people will be joining this October weekend trip!
