my homies and i recently got back from a new year's trip in taipei, taiwan. we basically walked around in the rain (but cherished the fact that it was about 30 thousand degrees warmer than seoul), explored some fancy buildings, temples, and night markets, and drank a decent amount of delicious beer.
here are some photos from the first day (and a half) of our adventure:
[beef noodle soup]
[yune and lauren at revolver, this total hipster bar]
[check out these fancy sinks in the food court! come on, america, figure it out.]
[taipei 101 was super classy, so obviously we fit right in with our drenched street clothes and pores leaking of booze.]
oh, we had an additional member in our travel group this trip! tricia's cousin, brendan, met up with us in taipei.
we rallied some middle school taiwanese girls to participate in our brick wall photo shoot.
that night out, we went out to a variety of places.
before our outing, though, we tried these things commonly referred to as betel nuts.
apparently they give you some kind of caffeine high, but none of us really felt anything.
the first place we went to was a brewery called jolly.
then there was hooters taipei ...
then, another brewery which i forgot the name of...
and lastly, brendan and i found this nice boy, jacob, around our neighborhood, and he showed us a local place to kick it.
all in all, our first 40ish hours in taipei were pretty rad. the streets smelled of rain, hipsters were everywhere, and bubble tea could be found on about every corner. i'll write about day two later. =]
